In a past life I was one of the first of the computer geeks, actually before that term even existed!  I was Air Force trained in the computer sciences and stuck with it almost my entire working life.  That included having my own software company, three of the original ComputerLand stores, and years of consulting.

My hobbies were always somehow model train related.  In my off hours from computing I had a commercial layout building business, where folks would contract with me to build their dream model railroad.  Over the years I have built some 96 of those.  That is where I learned a little about working with wood.

My first shop space was half of a single car garage.  I eventually worked up to having a basement shop when we moved to Oregon in 2000.

Now in my retirement I have my dream shop.  A 40 x 50 high ceiling shop adjacent to the house and the Sprague River.  I love it.  The following images are some of my modeling projects and some snaps of some of shop tools.

I am not an artist.  I am not a wood master craftsman.  What I am is an old guy with some computer skills, and some really killer tools that come with software.

I still build models from O scale (1/48th scale) up to 1 1/2 inch scale (1/8th scale).  I volunteer at Train Mountain almost full time, at least I’m there most weekdays and all of their meets.

My next endeavor in wood working is to try and learn how to do intarsia.
